Springer to publish key journal in materials science
Journal of Coatings Technology and Research
takes on a new direction.
Springer has announced a new publishing partnership
with the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology (FSCT) and
the Oil and Colour Chemists' Association (OCCA). As of January 2007,
Springer will publish the Journal of Coatings Technology and Research
(JCTR), a publication which is co-owned by the two societies.
The Journal of Coatings Technology and Research is
a quarterly forum for the exchange of original research, experience,
knowledge and ideas for those with a professional interest in the
science, technology and manufacture of coatings. Starting in 2007,
JCTR will also incorporate papers from OCCA's existing research
journal, Surface Coatings International Part B: Coatings Transactions,
thereby increasing the total number of papers published in JCTR. The
Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Ray A. Dickie, who has been leading JCTR
successfully for the last ten years.
Chris Pacey-Day, General Secretary of OCCA, noted,
"The decision to combine OCCA's Coatings Transactions and the FSCT's
Journal of Coatings Technology and Research into a single publication
represents a significant new development. OCCA and the FSCT are
delighted that Springer will publish and market JCTR. We are very
impressed with the professionalism of the Springer organization."
Bob Ziegler, Executive Director of the FSCT, said,
"OCCA and the FSCT are pleased to collaborate with Springer on the
Journal of Coatings Technology and Research. This partnership will
allow us to attain our goal of providing the international coatings
community with a high-quality, peer-reviewed journal that will play an
essential role in the future growth of the industry."
"The Journal of Coatings Technology and Research
benefits from the remarkable history of its legacy publications that
date as far back as 1918," added Alex Greene, Publishing Director for
Engineering at Springer. "OCCA and the FSCT both have excellent
reputations not only for being the leading professional bodies within
the international coatings community but also for publishing
outstanding journals. This exciting partnership will enhance our
well-established materials science and chemistry program. With
Springer's strengths in electronic publishing and our global
distribution networks, we look forward to supporting the societies to
further establish JCTR as the premier research journal in the field."
Springer will publish the Journal of Coatings
Technology and Research in both print and electronic formats. It will
be available via SpringerLink, Springer's online information platform,
and will include Online First™, a feature where articles are published
online before they appear in print. In addition, all potential authors
have the option, via the Springer Open Choice program, of publishing
their articles using the open access publishing model once they have
been accepted for publication.
